"My name is Camila Diaz-Salas. I am a second year studying Education, Community, and Organizations along with double majoring in Public Service and Policy at the University of Washington. I plan to go into Education Administration in hopes of improving the current school system as we know. I was born in Kansas, and I moved to Washington when I was 10 years old. I grew up witnessing many discrepancies in the education system across states which ranged from lack of POC Educators to the lack of bilingual helpers/teachers as well. The experiences during my childhood have brought me to seek equitable solutions for schools and to reach my dreams for all the children that have felt wronged by the education system. I want to be a voice for marginalized people, immigrants, and the Latine community .Coming into the University of Washington, I have centered my practice in volunteering and working with children and teens. I want to be an administrator that knows how to work with all grade levels, so that is exactly what I hope to do along my academic career. I also want to help shape curriculums for future generations that are Bilingual, inclusive, and accessible for all. Going through the K-12 system has given me many perspectives that I will take with me through my years as undergrad, into my masters, and hopefully my PhD as well. Through this research I hope to make a change, starting with one school at a time."
